The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) chapter of the National Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) has commenced a seven-day warning strike.

A communiqué signed by NARD’s President, Dr George Ebong with other executive members of the association conveyed the decision to commence the industrial action on Monday.

The doctors characterised the FCT health system as suffering from long-standing systemic issues and called for immediate and thorough reforms.

Ebong emphasised that resident doctors in the FCT were faced with significant pressure, noting that they were frequently required to manage multiple departments at once.
