The Chairman, Imo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Chief Charles Ugwu has resigned his position and membership of the party.
Ugwu’s resignation comes amid the wave of resignation sweeping across the state PDP, days after former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Emeka Ihedioha announced his exit from the party.
Aside the state chairman, other top members that have resigned from the PDP in Imo include the immediate past deputy governor, Engr Gerald Irona; former Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology Owerri and one-time Education Commissioner, Prof Jude Njoku.
Those that resigned also include a former lawmaker, Ikenga Mayor Eze; former Chief of Staff, Dr. Vin Udokwu; PDP State Youth Leader, Evang Anozie Udenwa; Ikeduru State House of Assembly candidate, Barr Sonny-Unachukwu John and Isiala Mbano State Assembly Candidate, Pius Omah.
Others are former commissioners, Engr Sly Enwerem and Hon Chief Nkiruka Ibekwe Esq, as well as Chief Sir Martin Opara (Ikemba), Chief Mrs Ann Njoku, High Chief Angus Okorie and Chief Edward Uzoechila Ezeh.
Top PDP chieftains that resigned are the Owerri Zonal Organising Secretary of the PDP, Hon Chief Ben Mere; the zonal secretary, Prince Macdonald Enwerem as well as Chibuike Paschal Maduike and Hon. Ike Uche.
Also, former Chairman, Aboh Mbaise Local government, High Chief Jonathan Onyeneke; his Ezinihite local government counterpart, Hon. Mrs Gertrude Iroemeh joined Hon Engr Chidi Ugochukwu, Hon Goddy Nwabekee who is the party’s Auditor, Barr Chisom Dominic, Nze Anselm Ikwu, Sir Emeka Amajirionwu, Comr. Patrick Okoro, Sir Ralph Emeka Udeh and Okoronkwo Rex to dump the PDP.
