The Sole Administrator of Rivers State, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (Rtd) has arrived at the Government House in Port Harcourt for a high-level meeting with key stakeholders.
The administrator immediately entered a closed-door session with senior security officers, a federal government delegation, and top state government officials.
Sources said the meeting was expected to focus on pressing security and administrative matters as the new leadership takes shape following recent political changes in the state.
While details of the discussions remain undisclosed, insiders believe the outcome could set the tone for the administration’s immediate actions.
In a brief chat with the media, Ibas said, “I want to thank you all for what you have been doing so far. When I got in here, I decided to meet with the Head of Service and service commanders.
“I will have to meet them for formal briefing. I assure you that later this evening, I will have to address you on some issues you want to know.”
Asked about the hospitality accorded him upon his arrival, the retired Vice Admiral who spotted an all-white native attire said, “Port Harcourt is my city. Everything appears calm. We just want Port Harcourt to get to where it has always been.”
LEADERSHIP recalls that President Bola Tinubu swore in Ibas on Wednesday in Abuja following the declaration of emergency rule in the state.
Tinubu also suspended Governor Siminalayi Fubara, his deputy and members of the state House of Assembly due to protracted political feud in the state.
