A petrol-laden tanker has exploded, killing about 30 people and injuring 40 others on Agaie-Baddegi Road in Niger State.
LEADERSHIP findings revealed that the accident occurred around Essa village after Agaie, inward Baddegi.
Sources from the village, who witnessed the accident, said that the incident occurred around 11am on Tuesday.
They said the dead victims were mostly those scooping petroleum product from the accident scene before the explosion.
The Niger State chairman of Petroleum Tanker Drivers (PTD) and Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG) National Ex-Officio, Comrade Farouk Mohammed Kawo, confirmed the incident to LEADERSHIP.
