Credible sources said the explosion occurred around 11am on Monday morning when vehicles travelling from Rann, headquarters of Kala-Balge local government area to Gamboru Ngala ran into the IEDs.

The sources said the location was near Furunduma, 11 kilometers from Rann, adding that the victims included women and children.

A Civilian Joint Task Force member, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, confirmed that eight people were killed in the explosion incident.

Another source said that the death toll may be higher than eight, considering the number of women and children involved in the journey.
