President Bola Tinubu on Monday officially sworn in Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun as the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN).

The ceremony took place at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa in Abuja.

Kekere-Ekun’s appointment followed her confirmation by the Nigerian Senate last week.

She becomes the 23rd Chief Justice of Nigeria and the second woman to hold the position.

Justice Kekere-Ekun had been serving as the acting CJN since August when her appointment was announced following the retirement of her predecessor, Justice Olukayode Ariwoola.
