An officer of the Nigerian Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) and his orderly on Saturday night were reportedly kidnapped in Delta State.

The circumstances leading to the kidnapping may not be unconnected to the arrest of suspects in the area over drug related offences and possible retaliation by the suspects’ accomplices.

It was alleged that the heavily armed abductors intercepted the officer and his orderly close to the agency’s head office.

The abduction, which took place off the Isah-Ogwashi-Uku Road in Aniocha South local government area of the state at about 8:00pm, happened as the officer was heading home after the day’s work.

Sources privy to the abduction disclosed that the perpetrators might have been informed by an insider about the victims’ movement.

When contacted, the spokesperson of the Delta State Command of NDLEA, Mr. John Kennedy, declined comment on the matter.

Recall that five persons have been abducted in Ogwashi-Uku within the last 10 days, leaving residents of the area in a state of fear and panic as the criminals have reportedly been changing strategies to evade arrest.
