JUST-IN: Wike’s Ally, Senator Barinada Mpigi, Dies

The Senator representing Rivers South-East senatorial district of Rivers State, Barinada Mpigi, has died.

Mpigi, a political ally of Minister of FCT, Nyesom Wike, died on Thursday. However, the cause of his sudden death was unknown at press time.

Wike’s spokesman, Lere Olayinka, took to his verified Facebook page to mourn the Federal lawmaker, saying “RIP Senator Barinada Mpigi.”

LEADERSHIP reports that Mpigi, 64, was until his death the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Works in the current 10th National Assembly.
