JUST-IN:Nasarawa Gov. Sacks Six Commissioners In Cabinet Reshuffle

Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State has relieved six commissioners of their appointments in a cabinet reshuffle aimed at strengthening governance and injecting fresh ideas into his administration.

The decision was announced by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Labaran Magaji, while briefing journalists after the State Executive Council meeting in Lafia.

The affected commissioners headed the Ministries of Works, Women Affairs, Information, Lands, Science and Technology, as well as Security and Sundry Matters.

Magaji said the commissioners were asked to step aside to pave the way for fresh ideas and reposition the government for improved service delivery in the remaining months of the administration.

He, however, stressed that the action was not a reflection of poor performance, noting that the government acknowledged the dedication, efficiency and contributions of the affected officials.

According to him, the reshuffle is intended to rejig the system, inject fresh energy into governance and ensure that the administration delivers fully on its mandate before the end of its tenure.

The SSG added that the former commissioners would remain part of the government and could be considered for other responsibilities in due course, while the names of their replacements would be announced through the appropriate channels.

He also disclosed that the Executive Council discussed measures to boost the state’s internally generated revenue by leveraging investments in the lithium sector, following the recent inauguration of one of Africa’s largest lithium processing plants in Nasarawa by President Bola Tinubu, represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima.
