All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN) has reaffirmed Kabir Ibrahim as its legitimate national president.
In a statement addressing stakeholders in Nigeria’s agriculture sector, AFAN national assistant public relations officer Salisu Mukhtar warned against individuals claiming the presidency illegitimately.
He said that any attempt to assume the presidency while the matter is pending before the Court of Appeal is against due process and the rule of law.
The association highlighted that an appellant’s request to prevent Arc. Kabir Ibrahim from continuing his role was not granted during the initial hearing, and the case was adjourned to 5 March 2025.
In the interim, Mukhtar added that Arc. Kabir Ibrahim remains the recognised national president of AFAN.
The statement reads, “We are compelled to inform stakeholders in Nigeria’s agriculture space to be wary of anyone who arrogates to himself the powers to determine a matter that is before the Court of Appeal without allowing due process to be done to dispense with it by the honourable court.
“The national president of All Farmers Association is Arc. Kabir Ibrahim and anyone else who parades himself as such is running foul of the law.
“The prayer of the appellant, at the Court of Appeal at the initial hearing of the matter, to stop Arc. Kabir Ibrahim, from continuing his legitimate role as the national president of the All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN), was not granted, and the matter was adjourned to 5th March, 2025.
Until such a time when the Court of Appeal dispenses with the matter, Arc. Kabir Ibrahim FNIA, remains the bona fide National President of AFAN”, it added.
