The governorship candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) in Kaduna State, Haruna Yunusa Kajuru, has unveiled a 10-point development agenda ahead of the 2027 governorship election, pledging to prioritise security, economic opportunities and institutional reforms if elected.
Tagged ‘Reset Kaduna 2027’, the agenda was presented during an engagement with party leaders and members of the public at Assa Pyramid Hotel in Kaduna, where Kajuru formally declared his intention to contest the election.
The proposed agenda covers security, poverty reduction, education and skills development, civil service reform, local government administration, agriculture, healthcare, environmental sustainability, urban and rural development, social inclusion and investment mobilisation.
On security, Kajuru stressed the importance of peaceful coexistence among Kaduna State’s diverse communities, arguing that governance that recognises the interests of different ethnic groups would help build public trust and support lasting development.
He also identified civil service reform and effective local government administration as priorities, maintaining that strong public institutions were essential to delivering development and improving governance at the grassroots.
The APM candidate further called for greater electoral participation, expressing concern over voter apathy, particularly among sections of the elite and privileged members of society.
Under the campaign slogan, “Free Votes for Good Governance”, he urged eligible voters to reject vote-buying and vote-selling, insisting that electoral choices should be guided by competence, integrity and a commitment to public service.
He said the 10-point agenda would serve as the framework for his campaign, with a focus on improving security, expanding economic opportunities, strengthening public institutions and promoting inclusive development across Kaduna State.
