Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has confirmed that normal passenger train services between Kaduna-Rigasa and Idu-Abuja are not disrupted by a “minor derailment” at Jere station.
In a statement signed by NRC deputy director of public relations, Yakub Mahmood, the corporation reassured the public that all passengers arrived safely at their destinations.

Mahmood said, “NRC engineers are currently addressing the issue on-site. The NRC apologised for any inconvenience and reiterated its commitment to passenger safety and comfort.”

Earlier reports indicated that several coaches of a train departing from Rigasa Train Station in Kaduna to Abuja had derailed near the mountainous area of Jere.

Sources stated that the train, carrying numerous passengers, left Kaduna at around 8 am, and approximately an hour into the journey, three coaches derailed.
