The executive chairman of the Kaduna State Internal Revenue Service (KADIRS), Jerry Adams, says the Uba Sani administration is targeting a monthly Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) of N20 billion as the ongoing fiscal reforms continue to boost taxpayer confidence and revenue performance.

Adams stated this when he received a delegation from the Association of Non-Indigenes Support Group for Governor Uba Sani, which visited him and conferred on him the title of its grand patron.

The KADIRS chairman revealed that the state’s monthly IGR had grown from an average of N4 billion in 2023 to about N9 billion currently, attributing the increase to reforms aimed at improving tax administration and enhancing public trust in government.

He said taxpayers were becoming more willing to fulfil their civic obligations, “because they can see tangible evidence of government investments in critical sectors such as infrastructure, healthcare, education, and social welfare.”

He said the administration of Governor Sani has remained committed to ensuring that resources generated from taxation were translated into projects that directly impact the lives of citizens.

Adams noted that KADIRS would continue to pursue policies that encourage voluntary tax compliance while protecting taxpayers from multiple taxation and other forms of exploitation.

He stressed that revenue generation should not be viewed as a burden on citizens but as a collective responsibility that enables government to provide essential services and drive sustainable development.

The KADIRS boss also expressed appreciation for the honour bestowed on him by the association, describing it as a recognition of the important role played by non-indigenes in the economic growth and social development of Kaduna State.

He reaffirmed the state’s commitment to inclusive governance, saying every resident, irrespective of ethnic, religious, or regional background, has a stake in the development of Kaduna State.

Earlier, the co-convener of the Association of Non-Indigenes Support Group for Governor Uba Sani, Johnny Nwankwere, presented Adams with a letter of confirmation and the association’s flag, signifying his appointment as Grand Patron.

Nwankwere described the KADIRS chairman as a visionary and reform-oriented administrator whose leadership has transformed tax administration in the state.

He commended the agency’s efforts in reducing incidences of multiple taxation and tax-related harassment, noting that such reforms have contributed significantly to improving the relationship between taxpayers and government.

The association also pledged its support for the state’s revenue generation drive through public enlightenment campaigns and grassroots mobilisation across communities.
