Chairmanship and councillorship elections into the 255 wards and 23 local government areas hold today in Kaduna State.
The Security Council imposed restriction on movement throughout the state from 6am to 7pm.
The government said the restriction was to ensure peaceful and orderly conduct of the elections.
The overseeing commissioner, Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan in a statement yesterday, said vehicular movement, as well as commercial and other related activities which may constitute impediments to law and order are to cease within the period of the restriction.
The statement added that only persons performing essential duties were exempted from the restriction, and may move during the period with proper identification and clearance.
Aruwan advised residents to refrain from actions that could disrupt public peace or affect smooth conduct of the elections, “Security agencies have been deployed to ensure enforcement and compliance”
“Members of the general public are also urged to promptly report any observed acts which threaten law and order to security agencies, and not take laws into their hands. The Kaduna State Security Operations Room is reachable for this purpose on the following lines: 09034000060
