In a landmark initiative aimed at revitalising secondary healthcare in the region, the Kaduna State government has embarked on an extensive reconstruction, remodelling, and equipping of nine general hospitals that have languished for over 20 years.
The acting special adviser to the Governor on Project Monitoring, Implementation, and Results Delivery, Dr. Ahmed Abdullahi disclosed this yesterday in a statement issued in Kaduna.
According to him, the central focus of the transformative effort was the General Hospital in Maigana, located in the Soba local government area, which is undergoing a thorough overhaul.
“Under the visionary leadership of Senator Uba Sani, the state administration has taken on the critical task of upgrading these long-overlooked healthcare facilities.
He further explained that the ongoing transformation of the General Hospital in Maigana is expected to serve as a model for enhancing the quality of healthcare infrastructure and improving service delivery throughout Kaduna State.
“This ambitious initiative has carefully selected 3 general hospitals from each Senatorial Zone to benefit equitably from the upgrades.
“The following hospitals have been earmarked for this vital project in their respective zones: “Zone 1: 1. General Hospital Ikara; General Hospital Maigana, Soba LGA; General Hospital Saminaka, Lere LGA. Zone 2, General Hospital Rigasa, Igabi LGA; General Hospital Giwa, Giwa LGA; General Hospital Sabon Tasha, Chikun LGA. Zone 3, General Hospital Gwantu, Sanga LGA; Sir Patrick Ibrahim Yakowa Hospital, Kafanchan, Jema’a LGA and General Hospital Kachia, Kachia LGA.
He added that the strategic selection of these hospitals underscores Governor Uba Sani’s commitment to equitable leadership and the balanced development of healthcare infrastructure across the state by addressing the long-standing disparities in healthcare access and quality among different regions.
“This extensive reconstruction and remodelling initiative was not merely about physical improvements but also equipping these facilities with modern medical technology and resources necessary for delivering high-quality healthcare services.
“This comprehensive approach is anticipated to significantly enhance patient care and outcomes, ensuring that residents of Kaduna State have access to the medical services they need,” he said.
He disclosed that, in the same vein, more hospitals across other local government areas are being scheduled for remodelling, reconstruction, and equipping to improve healthcare in Kaduna State.
