Some Kaduna residents have lamented the epileptic power supply by the Kaduna Electric accusing them of collecting bills without light.

The residents said the poor electricity supply is affecting the socio-economic activities within Kaduna metropolitan areas.

They also said their businesses have been badly affected by the power outage.

Speaking with LEADERSHIP, a resident of Television community, Kaduna South, Amos Titus, said, “In Television here the whole day if one sees light it will be like less than one hour. Sometimes no light complete day. Some of us don’t know what is happening. At the same time NEPA people are collecting bills.”

A dry cleaner based in Ungwuan Romi, Felix Gambo, lamented, “Customers are not coming again because of poor light supply. The cloths I collected one week ago are still there. It is really affecting business”

However, giving update on the current power supply across Kaduna state and other states, Kaduna Electric management apologised to customers over reduction in power supply.

The management in a statement stated on Sunday, We wish to inform you that we are currently experiencing a reduction in power supply across our franchise area due to gas supply constraints affecting power generation on the national grid. This situation has resulted in reduced power allocation and increased load shedding across our network.

“We are however, pleased to inform you that the Nigerian Independent System Operator (NISO) is actively working with relevant stakeholders in the power sector to ensure that gas supply to generation companies increases significantly, which will in turn improve power generation on the grid.”

Kaduna Electric added, “On our part at Kaduna Electric, we remain in constant communication with the relevant stakeholders and are closely monitoring updates regarding improvements in generation and supply to our network.
We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience caused and appreciate your patience and understanding as efforts continue to stabilise and improve power supply.”
