Kane Set For Bayern Contract Talks As 2027 Exit Looms

Harry Kane has confirmed that talks over a new contract with Bayern Munich are expected to begin this week or next, with his current deal due to expire in 2027.

The England captain, 33, revealed the development during a media day in Munich on Monday, saying negotiations had been delayed until after his post-World Cup holiday.

“I’m not sure exactly when, but they’ll start this week or next week,” Kane said.

“We’re calm, they’re calm with the situation. Obviously, now’s the time to start talking, because with only a year left it’s important.

“But both sides are relaxed and I’m pretty sure there’ll be talks this week or next week.”

Kane joined Bayern from Tottenham Hotspur in 2023 on a four-year contract and has since scored an extraordinary 146 goals in 147 appearances in all competitions.

He has helped Bayern win two Bundesliga titles and the German Cup, while reaching the Champions League semi-finals in two of his three seasons at the club.

Bayern have repeatedly expressed their desire to extend Kane’s stay, with the club describing him as their “best transfer ever” at the end of last season.

German media reports suggest any new contract could run until at least 2029.

Kane has also emerged as a leading contender for the 2026 Ballon d’Or after scoring 61 goals in 51 matches last season.

German World Cup winner Lothar Matthaeus has backed the Bayern striker to win the prestigious award, saying Kane “deserves” it after an outstanding campaign.

Bayern begin their competitive season against Borussia Dortmund in the season-opening Supercup on Saturday.
