Kano State Drugs and Medical Consumables Supply Agency (DMCSA) has expressed its readiness to partner with the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences of Bayero University, Kano, on drug manufacturing, knowledge sharing, research and student training.
The director-general of the agency, Pharm Gali Sule disclosed this when he received council representatives of the National Association of Industrial Pharmacists of Nigeria (NAIP), led by Pharm Gidado Yusuf, who was on a working visit to his office.
The agency’s spokesperson, Farouk Musa, in a statement made available to LEADERSHIP Friday yesterday, quoted the DG saying that upon completion of the remodelled and upgraded Drug Manufacturing Unit (DMU) and certification by the approved regulatory agencies, it would lead standard operations.
He said that it would produce drugs, conduct quality control tests for procured drugs, as well as receive students on industrial training from various tertiary institutions, especially Bayero University.
While commending them for their visit, Pharm. Sule assured them of his agency’s total support and cooperation.
Earlier in his speech, NAIP vice-chairman, Pharm. Yusuf said they were at the agency to strengthen the existing working relationship between the two bodies, stressing that they are ever ready to support the agency in any way to achieve the desired goals.
Also speaking, Internal Auditor of the Association, who is also a member of the United States Pharmacopeia (USP), Pharm. Richard Ladapo, assured the DG of USP’s willingness to provide the necessary training to DMU staff with a view to enhancing their capacity.
