The All Progressives Congress (APC) has directed its legal team to seek redress against the declaration of New Nigeria People Party (NNPP) governorship candidate and governor-elect, Alhaji Abba Kabiru Yusuf, as winner of the March 18 gubernatorial election in Kano State.
This was just as the party disclosed that though the APC candidate, Nasiru Gawuna, had congratulated the governor-elect. On the contrary, the APC is of the strong conviction that the declaration was in violation of electoral laws which prompted the decision by the party to proceed in search of legal redress.
Making the assertion, the party’s spokesman, Alhaji Ahmed Aruwa, stated that Kano APC faulted the results declared by INEC.
According to him, the declaration of the winner of the elections as announced by INEC contravened provisions of laws regulating the overall conduct of the elections.
Mr, Aruwa alleged that INEC had acted in contrast to the provisions of the law by declaring Abba Kabir K. Yusuf as the governor-elect of the state.
