This raises the total from the N549,160,417,663.00 earlier presented by the state governor to N719,755,417,663.00.

The bill was passed after a rowdy session during Tuesday’s plenary, presided over by the Speaker, Rt Hon. Ismail Falgore.

The Speaker, who announced the passage of the bill, stated that the recurrent expenditure stands at N262,670,660,562.68, representing 36 percent of the budget, while the capital expenditure stands at N457,084,757,200.32, representing 64 percent.

The Majority Leader, Hon. Lawan Husseini, explained to journalists shortly after the session that it was necessitated following public hearings and outcries, noting that some needs which the government had not adequately addressed were raised, hence the increase.
