Kano State house of Assembly has passed 12 bills and more than 217 motions sponsored by members of the House in the last one and half years.

Speaker of the House, Hon. Ismail Falgore, disclosed this on Friday while delivering his speech after Governor Abba Yusuf presented the 2025 proposed budget to the House for approval.

He said the bills passed into law  include the Kano State Free-Marital Health Screening Bill 2024, Kano State Public Health Security Bill 2024, Kano State Centre for Disease Control Bill 2024, Kano State Pension and Gratuity (Amendment No.5) Bill 2024, Kano State House of Assembly Service Commission (Amendment No. 2) Bill 2024 and Kano State Judiciary Fund Management (Amendment) Bill 2024.

Others are the Kano State Emirate Council Repeal and Enactment Bill 2024, Kano State Second Class Emirs Bill 2024, Kano State Supplementary Appropriation/Amendment Bill 2024, recommittal of the Kano State Public Health Security Bill, 2024, Kano state House of Assembly Funds Management Bill 2024 and recently the Kano State Sectional and Systematic Land Titling and Registration Bill, 2024.

According to him, the resolutions passed covered diverse areas such as roads, education, water supply, healthcare service among others aimed at improving the living standard of the people.

Hon. Falgore also hinted on how the assembly through the public accounts committee cleared an eight year backlog of audited accounts  due to state government and 11 years for the local government, which according to him, not only hindered effective governance but also caused a significant loss of public trust.
