The house ordered the chairman to appear before the House’s ad-hoc committee after a motion of urgent importance was moved by the member representing the Rano constituency, Hon Ibrahim Ahmad, during Monday’s plenary presided over by the speaker, Hon. Ismail Falgore.

Mover of the motion, Hon Ahmad, said the market, which has existed for over 60 years, was demolished around 2.00 am on a fateful night, affecting the source of livelihood of many residents who solely depend on it with their families.

He said the local government authority should have followed the right procedure and provide an alternative for the marketers rather than committing the acts at night using local hunters as security guards and causing grief to many.

He therefore urged the House to intervene between the authority in the area and the marketers to create synergy, avoid losses, and return the area to normalcy.

Supporting the motion, members representing Ungogo and Rimin Gado/Tofa constituency,Ā  Aminu Sa’ad and Mohammed Butu-butu respectively caution local authorities and state agencies against carrying out demolition exercise at nights, saying, due procedures should be followed whenever demolition exercise are carried out.

They highlighted the use of the Police rather than engaging hunters in an exercise that needs to be carried out with understanding in order to avoid losses.
