Kano Forum Applauds Gov Yusuf For Sponsoring 52 Information Officers To National Workshop

Kano State Forum of Information Officers has commended Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for sponsoring 52 information officers to participate in the 2026 National Professional Capacity Building Workshop organised by the Association of Local Government Information Officers of Nigeria (ALGION) in Abuja.

The chairman of the forum, Comrade Sharif Kofar Nasarawa, gave the commendation at the workshop’s opening ceremony, describing it as a clear demonstration of the governor’s commitment to human capital development and the professional advancement of information officers in the state.

He said the decision by the Kano State government to sponsor 52 local government and zonal information officers to attend the national workshop was unprecedented and highly commendable.

According to him, the knowledge, experience and professional exposure gained by the participants would enhance their capacity and strengthen information dissemination, public enlightenment and government communication across the state’s 44 local government areas.

He also expressed appreciation to Governor Yusuf for recognising the strategic role of Information Officers as critical stakeholders in communicating government policies, programmes and developmental achievements to the people.

He assured the governor that the participants would make effective use of the opportunity by applying the knowledge acquired during the workshop to improve their professional responsibilities and contribute to the effective communication of government programmes.

The Forum Chairman further commended the Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, for his continuous support, guidance and commitment to improving the capacity and welfare of Information Officers in Kano State.

Speaking at the occasion, the Commissioner, represented by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Alhaji Tsoho Aliyu Rogo, stressed the importance of continuous professional training and capacity building to keep pace with emerging trends in modern communication and information management.

He noted that Information Officers play a vital role in bridging the gap between government and the people, stressing that effective communication remains an important instrument for promoting transparency, accountability, and public confidence in governance.

The Commissioner urged the participants to take full advantage of the workshop by exchanging ideas, acquiring new skills, and adopting best practices to improve service delivery.

The 2026 National Professional Capacity Building Workshop brought together Local Government Information Officers and communication professionals from across Nigeria to deliberate on contemporary issues, emerging trends and best practices in public information management.

The Kano delegation comprises 52 Information Officers drawn from the state’s 44 Local Government Areas and eight Zonal Information Offices.
