Kano Gets New Commissioner Of Police

The Police Service Commission (PSC) has approved the appointment of Commissioner of Police (CP) Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, as the new Commissioner of Police for Kano State Police Command.

Bakori, who hails from the neighbouring Katsina State, replaces CP Salman Garba Dogo, who has been promoted to the rank of Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG).

Bakori’s appointment was announced in a press release issued on Tuesday by the Head of Press and Public Relations of PSC, Ikechukwu Ani.

Before this appointment, CP Bakori served as the Commissioner of Police in charge of Homicide at the Force Investigation Department (FID), Abuja. His extensive law enforcement experience includes roles as Commander of the Bayelsa State Joint Task Force, Operation Doo Akpo, and Assistant Commissioner in the Special Protection Unit at the Force Headquarters, Abuja. He has also held key positions in the criminal investigation departments of Bayelsa and Rivers States, served as Principal Staff Officer to the Inspector General of Police, and was the Commanding Officer of the 17 Police Mobile Force (PMF) in Akure, Ondo State.

“The Chairman of the Commission, DIG Hashimu Argungu rtd mni, has charged the new CP to ensure that peace prevails in the state,” Ani stated.

He said he should quickly settle down to the challenging task before him and also ensure that crime and criminality were brought to an end in the state while promoting freedom of movement and security of enterprise.

DIG Argungu said there was the need for him to crime map the state so as to be focused in giving Kano State a new lease of life. He promised that the Commission would always monitor his progress and offer support for his success.

The statement added that the Commission’s approval has been forwarded to the Inspector General of Police for implementation through a letter signed by the Secretary of PSC, Chief Onyemuche Nnamani.
