Kano Gov Signs ₦719bn 2025 Budget Into Law

Kano State Governor, Engr Abba Yusuf has signed over ₦719 billion 2025 budget of the state, into law.

LEADERSHIP reports that the budget, which was initially proposed at ₦549 billion, was increased to ₦719 billion by the State House of Assembly following public hearings held on November 12, 2024.

During the hearing, citizens and civil society organisations advocated for adjustments to address key developmental needs.

Governor Yusuf presented the initial budget proposal to the Assembly on November 8, 2024. Subsequent, government ministries, departments, and agencies defended their allocations before the Assembly.

Speaking during the signing ceremony at the State House of Assembly, Governor Yusuf assured that the budget’s implementation would commence on January 1, 2025.

He urged all ministries and agencies responsible for executing the budget to ensure judicious and effective use of the funds.

Yusuf commended the lawmakers, led by Speaker Jibril Isma’ila Falgore, for their commitment in approving the budget within two months.

He also extended gratitude to the people of Kano and civil society organisations for their contributions during the budget preparation process.

The Speaker of the House, Hon. Falgore also expressed optimism that the budget would positively impact the lives of Kano residents in 2025.
