Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State has directed security agencies to check the resurgence of thuggery and violent activities in the state.
This directive was issued at the 15th weekly meeting of the State Executive Council held at the Government House in Kano at the weekend.

In a statement released yesterday by the governor’s spokesman, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, Governor Yusuf expressed concern over the recent increase in thuggery and gang-related clashes by a group popularly known as “yan daba”. He stressed that his administration would not stand by while criminal elements disrupt the peace and endanger the lives of law-abiding citizens.

“The government is committed to working diligently with security agencies to ensure the safety and security of our people and their properties,” the governor said.

He also advised judges against the premature release of individuals involved in criminal activities, highlighting the significant threat they pose to public safety.

He emphasised the need for swift and fair justice to prevent further disturbances.
