The Secretary to the Kano State Government (SSG), Alhaji Umar Ibrahim, alongside the Head of the Civil Service, Alhaji Abdullahi Musa, and the chairman of the Payroll Standing Committee, Alhaji Auwalu Umar Sanda, has commenced an inspection tour of salary validation centres across the state to enhance transparency and accountability in salary administration in the state civil service.
The exercise is designed to verify staff records, eliminate payroll discrepancies, and ensure only duly recognised employees receive salaries.
During the tour, the SSG said the validation process is critical to ensuring a transparent and accountable payroll system, which will help identify irregularities and prevent financial leakages.
He also assured the civil servants that they would receive their salaries before the forthcoming Sallah celebration, provided they participated in the verification exercise, emphasizing that the salary-related challenges they had experienced recently had been effectively addressed.
Similarly, in his remarks, the Head of the Civil Service, Alhaji Musa, emphasized that the exercise would enhance workforce management.
According to him, “Proper salary administration is a fundamental aspect of good governance. This verification ensures that civil servants are accurately captured in the system, allowing for prompt and rightful salary payments.”
In their various remarks, many employees undergoing the verification process expressed support for the initiative, saying it would promote fairness and efficiency in salary payments.
