The Kano State Government has announced the suspension of its monthly environmental sanitation exercise for April to facilitate seamless conduct of the ongoing Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) examinations.

Commissioner for Environment and Climate Change, Dr. Dahiru Hashim announced this through a statement by Ismail Gwammaja, the director of Public Enlightenment at the ministry.

According to the statement, the temporary suspension followed consultations with key stakeholders to prevent disruptions that could hinder candidates participating in the nationwide exams.

“The suspension is aimed at preventing any potential disruptions to the examination process and ensuring that candidates can sit for their exams without any hindrance,” the statement said.

While assuring that the exercise would resume in full in May 2025, Hashim appealed to residents to understand the rationale behind the decision and continue supporting government efforts to maintain environmental hygiene.

The Commissioner also urged the public to refrain from indiscriminate waste disposal and to support sanitation officials in keeping the state clean, even in the absence of the formal exercise this month.
