Kano State People’s Redemption Party (PRP) candidates forum headed by Alhaji Abdullahi Sabo Rano have asked the new administration in the state to probe the former governor of the state Umar Ganduje.
The candidates said it was important for the new administration to look into the past to see what was done right and wrong so that the state can move forward.
Rano said since the 2023 general election is now history, there is the need to forge ahead and for members to remain committed towards entrenching a viable democratic culture in the Country.
At the forum’s maiden meeting held at the headquarters of the party yesterday, the spokesman of the group said election remains the only legal and acceptable means of producing leaders under a democratic system and therefore it must be free and fair at all times.
He said in every election there must be a winner and a loser while future chances remain available and bright for all determined persons.
Rano congratulated the Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf on his swearing-in as new Governor of Kano state and all other candidates who won the election under various political parties.
“As patriotic citizens of Kano state, we are calling on the new government in the state and all other stakeholders to put the collective interest of the state above any individual or group for the attainment of laudable objectives.
“We are urging the new government to revitalize our decaying educational sector, improve public healthcare service delivery, and come up with policies and programs that will enhance agriculture, commerce and industries for job creation and poverty eradication.
The PRP candidates are equally demanding the new government to look back to see what was done right and what went wrong,
They said there is the need to look at how the state resources were being spent, any act of fraud, breach of public trust or any identified case of financial abuse of office should be probed and brought to the book.
“Any good work done by past administrations should be appreciated and built upon for continuity in the state socio- economic development.
As members of opposition party in Kano state and Nigeria we vow not relent in our struggle for freedom and social justice,
“We will continue to use an appropriate democratic channel including constructive criticisms to challenge any policy, program/project embarked by state or federal government that does not have any bearing to the interest of common man (Talakawa) peace and progress of the citizen,” he said.
