Receiving the items on Tuesday from the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation through the National Commission for Refugees, Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons (NCFRMI), the Kano state Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Alhaji Adamu Kibiya, expressed gratitude for the support in improving the lives of the state’s vulnerable.

He said the items received included 70 bags of 50kg Rice, 64 bags of 100kg millet, 50 bags of 100kg guinea corn, 200 bags of salt, 2,047 cartons of noodles, 120 cartons of seasoning, 120 jerricans of groundnut oil, 97 cartons of dates, 70 bags of semolina, 100 25ltrs of palm oil, and 129 bags of 100kg beans.

According to him, the 300 children camped at the hajj camp include children received from crisis areas in neighbouring states and some Almajiri children in the state receiving training and orientation. He added that thousands of children sleep under bridges and market areas, hence the need to seek the federal government’s support and well-meaning Nigerians to ensure they are cared for to enhance the state’s security.

While thanking President Bola Tinubu, the Humanitarian minister, and Governor Abba Yusuf for ensuring the safety and well-being of vulnerable individuals in the country and state, he assured that his ministry would ensure the food items are distributed judiciously and transparently to the targeted people.
