LEADERSHIP reports that Maj.-Gen. Idris (rtd) is the second member of the Kano State Executive Council who has tendered his resignation in 2025. Recall that Mohammed Diggol, Commissioner for Project Monitoring and Evaluation, resigned earlier this year.

Major General Idris was appointed in August 2024 as the pioneer Commissioner of the newly created ministry. During his brief tenure, he played a key role in establishing the framework for the ministry’s operations.

In the official statement, Governor Yusuf commended Maj.-Gen. Idris for his dedication and service to the state. “We thank Major General Muhammad Inuwa Idris (Rtd) for his unwavering commitment and contributions to the development of Kano State right from his days in the military career, we wish him a peaceful and fulfilling retirement as he transitions into a well-deserved rest from public service,” the governor said.

While no reason was given for his sudden resignation, the governor expressed confidence that his successor would build on the foundation laid by Idris to ensure the ministry operates effectively.
