Katsina State Governor, Dikko Umaru Radda, has announced that the state government has committed N4 billion in the 2026 budget as counterpart funding for the Nigeria for Women Project, a major initiative of the Federal Government of Nigeria aimed at strengthening women’s economic empowerment across the country.

Radda disclosed this while marking the 2026 International Women’s Day, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to promoting the economic independence and development of women across Katsina State.

The governor explained that the funding would support programmes designed to improve women’s access to financial resources, business opportunities and skills development, enabling them to expand their economic activities and contribute more meaningfully to the state’s development.

According to him, the investment reflects his administration’s belief that empowering women is essential to building stronger families and more resilient communities.

He noted that beyond financial support, the government intends to create sustainable platforms that will allow women to develop their skills, grow their businesses and access wider markets.

Governor Radda also called on women across the state to take advantage of the opportunities provided under the programme to improve their livelihoods and contribute to economic growth.
