Katsina State government has laid the foundation for three special schools to create a suitable learning environment for the children of the less privileged in the state.
Governor Umar Dikko Radda disclosed this at the flag-off of the disbursement of N640,648,546 bursary allowances and the presentation of awards of academic excellence to students with higher cumulative grade points average – CGPA of 4.50 and above.
He said the children of the elite have opportunities to go to school at different degrees while the those of the poor don’t have such, stressing that “the establishment of the special modern schools is to provide that kind of opportunity for the less privileged so that they can rub shoulders with the children of the elite or even do better.”
The governor who launched the bursary allowance and presentation of award of excellence for the best and brightest students, urged other students to emulate the benefiting students, assuring the government’s commitment to making the life of the students better by ensuring prompt payment of scholarships to students at various higher institutions.
Earlier, the executive secretary of the scholarship board, Aminu Salisu Tsauri, lauded the present administration for achieving a lot in various sectors in less than one year in office.
