The project coordinator of the Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project (RAAMP), Ministry of Environment, Engr Falalu Hussaini, disclosed this at a stakeholders’ workshop on road sector reform yesterday.
He said the state government had submitted over 18,000 kilometres of rural road networks for consideration.
He explained further that the essence of the meeting was to review the road sector and to have a better understanding of road maintenance in the state, adding that the need for the participants’ input was necessary to assist in drafting a bill for the legislative process and finally pass it into law.
According to him, “the state government has agreed to establish a road maintenance agency that would be responsible to take care of all rural roads. The government would also constitute a board for the maintenance of these rural roads.
