Katsina State has the highest number of rural road networks that require construction for easy access and marketing of farm produce across the 34 local government areas of the state.
The project coordinator of the Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project (RAAMP), Ministry of Environment, Engr Falalu Hussaini, disclosed this at a stakeholders’ workshop on road sector reform yesterday.
He said the state government had submitted over 18,000 kilometres of rural road networks for consideration.
He explained further that the essence of the meeting was to review the road sector and to have a better understanding of road maintenance in the state, adding that the need for the participants’ input was necessary to assist in drafting a bill for the legislative process and finally pass it into law.
According to him, “the state government has agreed to establish a road maintenance agency that would be responsible to take care of all rural roads. The government would also constitute a board for the maintenance of these rural roads.
Police Parade 39 Suspected Criminals

Operatives of Adamawa State police command have arrested 39 suspects for allegedly committing various crimes in the state.
The commissioner of police, Sikiru Akande, who paraded the suspects yesterday in Yola, the state capital, said, a car, one locally-made pistol, AK-47 rifle, eight live ammunitions, two locally-made guns, a dane gun, bows and arrows, a torch light, an empty magazine, a cutlass, one knife, six handsets and the sum of N900,000 were recovered from them.
Akande said that the command’s operatives drawn from Crack Squad and Criminal Investigation Department (CID) carried out an intelligence driven and crime boosting patrol to the criminal hideout and arrested the suspects.
He appreciated the support being rendered by the citizens, and adding that all the suspects would be diligently prosecuted on completion of investigation.
