The sum of N18.6 billion was said to have been spent on the construction, rehabilitation and provision of chairs and instructional materials in 7,800 primary and secondary schools across Katsina State.
The executive chairman of Katsina State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Lawal Buhari Daura, disclosed this while interacting with our correspondent yesterday.
He said the amount was spent was within the eight years of the Governor Aminu Bello Masari administration.
He said the government since its inception in 2015 to date, has carried out a lot of transformation in basic education across the 34 local government areas of the state, adding that the achievements were made with the development partners, as counterpart funding is paid for the implementation.
The SUBEB boss said the administration has been prompt in payments of salary, allowance and promotion of teachers as when due, in addition to training and retraining teachers on modern teaching skills including digital models.
He, however, wished the governor well in his future endeavours, urging the incoming administration to sustain the tempo of transformation the Masari administration did for a better Katsina State.
