In a significant move towards enhancing agricultural productivity, the Katsina State Government, in collaboration with the World Bank, has acquired over 400 hectares of land for modern mechanised farming.

The initiative aims to transform local agricultural practices, empowering farmers with advanced tools and techniques to increase food production and ensure food security.

Governor Umaru Radda of the state disclosed this development during a one-day sensitisation programme for rural dwellers and stakeholders to educate rural communities about government policies and programmes.

The governor emphasised that his administration is committed to improving agricultural output as a critical part of addressing food security challenges and promoting peaceful, harmonious living in the state.

“We have set plans for implementing this program, which will see local farmers provided with hectares of land, along with the tools and resources necessary for modern farming techniques,” said Governor Radda.
“This includes the distribution of 4,000 farm implements across the state’s 32 local government areas, the deployment of 400 tractors, and the provision of 4,000 solar-powered water pumps for irrigation.”

He further revealed that the state has secured 4,000 hectares of land in collaboration with the World Bank, with the Danja Farm set for expansion to enhance farming activities.

The initiative aims to bolster food production and ensure the state is better positioned to combat food insecurity.

Governor Radda also highlighted his administration’s ongoing efforts to address insecurity, which has been a significant obstacle to agricultural development in the region.

Significant funds have been invested in security measures and agricultural projects as the state government works to create an environment conducive to sustainable growth.

The programme reflects the Katsina State Government’s broader vision to modernize its agricultural sector, empower rural farmers, and secure a future of food self-sufficiency for its citizens.

This initiative is expected to bring significant economic benefits to the region, increase food production, and reduce the state’s reliance on food imports, contributing to the overall development of rural communities.
