Katsina State government, in collaboration with the World Bank, has concluded plans to spend over N8 billion on construction and rehabilitation of some selected secondary schools in the state.

Governor Umaru Radda disclosed this on Monday, July 15, 2024, while launching the disbursement of 3rd phase of the Adolescent Girls Initiative Learning and Empowerment (AGILE) school improvement grant at Rimi local government area of the State.

The governor said the funds totaling N8.4 billion will be utilised to improve about 100 selected secondary schools in the state, adding that the funds will be disbursed to the School-Based Management Committees (SBMC) of the selected secondary schools across the state.

Governor Radda, in a statement issued by the state’s Commissioner for Information and Culture, Dr. Bala Salisu Zango, charged the SBMCs to properly utilise the funds for the purpose for which it was meant and cautioned against actions that can cause the State government to lose future opportunities.

Earlier in her address, the state’s Commissioner of Basic and Secondary Education, Hajiya Hadiza Abubakar Yar’adua, highlighted the commitment of the Radda administration in providing qualitative education to citizens of the state.
