The Kebbi APC Youth Vanguard (KAYVA) has dismissed as unconvincing the reasons advanced by Senator Garba Maidoki for his recent defection from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

In a statement issued by its leader, Comrade Adamu Ahmed, the group said the senator’s explanation for leaving the APC closely mirrors the reasons he gave when he defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the platform under which he was elected to represent Kebbi South Senatorial District.

Ahmed recalled that Maidoki had cited internal crises and alleged injustice within the PDP as justification for leaving the party, noting that he has once again relied on similar arguments to explain his latest political move.

According to the group, the repeated allegations have become predictable and raise questions about the senator’s commitment to party development and democratic engagement.

“KAYVA believes Senator Maidoki has demonstrated a tendency to abandon political platforms at the first sign of disagreement rather than work towards resolving challenges from within,” Ahmed stated.

The group further alleged that Maidoki, who joined the APC about a year ago, expected to secure the party’s senatorial ticket ahead of members who had remained loyal to the party through difficult periods.

Ahmed argued that the senator’s dissatisfaction stemmed from the party’s decision to provide a level playing field for all aspirants during the primary election process, which he said Maidoki eventually lost.

He maintained that longstanding party members who stood by the APC during challenging times deserved equal consideration in the party’s internal selection process.

The youth group challenged the senator to provide what it described as a truthful account of the circumstances surrounding his departure from the APC, insisting that such clarification would help the people of Kebbi South better understand the reasons behind his decision.

KAYVA also urged political actors to embrace internal democracy and constructive engagement rather than resort to frequent party defections whenever disagreements arise.
