Kebbi Approves N914m For Students Abroad

Kebbi Sends 35 Indigent Students To Study In Ethiopia

Kebbi State government has approved N715 million for the settlement of tuition, upkeep, visa extension, and internship allowances for indigent students studying abroad.

The commissioner for Higher Education, Isah Abubakar Tunga, revealed this to newsmen during a press conference held at the ministry in Birnin Kebbi, the state capital.

Tunga said N177,349,06 was set aside for registration, tuition, upkeep, visa extension and internship for 28 Kebbi State Indigenes studying in Subharti and GD Goenka Universities in India. Another N117, 686,000 was approved for Upkeep allowance for 25 indigenes studying medicine in seven Universities in Egypt and N70,216,078 as financial assistance for those studying Pharmacy, Medical and Allied Sciences in Jaifur National and GD Goenka Universities in India.

The remaining amount is N349,730,000 for registration, tuition, and upkeep allowances for the 35 students who recently left for Ethiopia to study Medicine and Pharmacy.

 

Tunga also announced the appointment of the pioneer provost of the newly established Kauran Gwandu College of Midwifery Sciences, Ambursa, by Governor Nasir Idris.

He said the approvals for the funds and the appointment of the provost were in line with the relentless efforts of the Idris-led administration to rejuvenate Kebbi State tertiary institutions to global standard.
