Kebbi Assembly Suspends LG Chairman

The Kebbi State House of Assembly has suspended the chairman of Fakai local government area, Hon Mohammed Sarkin Fawa, for embezzlement and asked the vice chairman, Hon Ahmed Bawa Matseri, to take charge of the local government affairs.

The chairman was suspended for six months by the assembly after he reportedly provided false claims during his appearance before a special investigation committee chaired by Hon Salihu Dangoje.

Hon. Dangoje, in his report, found evidence of the chairman’s involvement in the misappropriation of five electrical transformers, valued at N2.5 million each, the awarding of a fake dam’s contract to ZBBC Construction Firm, and the wrongful allocation of farmlands.

The committee recommended the rehabilitation of the dam in Mahuta, returning the five transformers to the local police and revocation of the illegally allocated farmlands.
