Kebbi Awards Contract For Birnin Kebbi Central Park

The Kebbi State government yesterday awarded contract for the rehabilitation and modernisation of the 25-year-old Birnin Kebbi central motor park at the cost of N2.99 billion.

The contract was awarded to AMIJAPP Nigeria Limited which was given 12 months to complete it and present it to the government.

The commissioner for works and transport, Engr. Abdullahi Umar Faruk Muslim who signed the contract on behalf of Governor Nasir Idris in Birnin Kebbi said government decided to awarded the contract due to the negligence and lack of maintenance by successive administrations in the state.

According to the commissioner, the contract contained a comfortable, functional and aesthetic edifice for modern public transport through provision of lock-up shops, gallery, modern administrative block, adequate water supply, restaurant, garbage and disposal bins, available sit-out for commuters, updated and readable electronic information board .

Other facilities contained in the scope of the contract include a convenient centre for both local and international travelers and freight collation from all over the country and neighbouring countries of Niger and Benin Republics.
The commissioner urged the contracting firm to commence work immediately in order to meet the time given by the government.
