The commissioner for Information and Culture in Kebbi State, Yakubu Ahmed Birnin Kebbi has changed working journalists in the state to be more active in discharging their responsibilities of reporting government’s activities and programmes.
He gave the charge when he received new executive members of the Correspondent’s Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) of the state in his office in Birnin Kebbi.
He said that days are gone when a journalist would fold his arms doing nothing or waiting for his colleague to share a story with him to send to his platform, which, according to him, animated a redundancy in practice.
According to him, Kebbi State has a dedicated governor who has the zeal to remodel the state so that it will compete with other developed states in the country.
The commissioner added that his door is always open for any journalist who wishes to contribute his quota towards promoting the laudable achievements recorded by the present administration of Governor Nasir Idris Kauran Gwandu.
Earlier, chairman of the Correspondent’s Chapel, Kabir Wurma had told the commissioner that the new EXCO are in his office to introduce themselves and seek his advice.
Wurma also assured of his members’ readiness to form alliance with the commissioner’s office in propagating government’s policies and programmes.
