The Kebbi State Elders Consultative Forum (KECF), in collaboration with the state government, has organised the annual summit on economic development to serve as a guide for future policies, innovative investments, and people-centered programmes that will uplift the people.
At the opening of the summit held at Presidential Lodge in Birnin Kebbi yesterday, the chairman of the forum, Major General Mohammed Magoro (rtd), Galadiman Zuru, said the essence of the annual summit is to bring together policymakers, scholars, entrepreneurs, technocrats, traditional leaders and the esteem elders united by a common purpose to exchange ideas, forge partnership and chart practical pathways for sustainable development of the young state.
“You may wish to know that the Kebbi Elders Consultative Forum was established in 1991 and soon after, the creation of Kebbi State with the conviction that wisdom and experience shall be harnessed for the good of the society and our role as Elders is to serve as advisors, unifiers, guides, facilitators, bridge-builders and partners in progress for accelerated development of Kebbi State “, Magoro said.
“Therefore, the Forum is ever-ready and committed to promoting unity, peace, progress and sustainable development of Kebbi State,” he added.
Declaring the summit open, Governor Nasir Idris commended the Forum for organising such an important gathering which according to him, will foster unity in Kebbi.
Idris, however, assured his administration’s readiness to continue supporting the organisation of such important events, in which people, particularly elites, will speak well about the laudable achievements recorded by the present administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the governor of Kebbi State.
