Speaking at the flag-off of the distribution exercise in Maiyama local government area,  Governor Idris said over 550,000 families would benefit from the gesture.

He said the distribution would continue until every beneficiary receives their allocation.

“Each of the 21 local government areas receives 10 trucks consisting of rice, millet and maize. The state government expended over N5.7 billion to procure these grains,” he said.

According to him, palliative distribution committees have been constituted in every local government comprising state executive members, party chairmen, women and youth leaders, among others.

He directed the committees to be firm and resolute in equitable distribution of the grains.

About 550,000 families of federal, state and local government workers to community members at ward levels are expected to benefit from the grains,” he said.

Governor Idris also said the state government had enrolled in the 2023/2024 federal government’s special dry season farming programme to provide a solid, lasting and sustainable means of livelihood for the citizenry.

Support will be provided for dry season crop production to create a circle of agricultural activities, he said.
