Kebbi State governor, Nasir Idris, has faulted the Adolescent Girls Initiative For Learning and Empowerment (AGILE) for awarding a contract worth N7.8 billion without the involvement of Kebbi-based companies.
Idris faulted AGILE when he received a delegation from the World Bank team and the national project team, led by Mr Shinsako Nomura, during a courtesy visit at the Government House in Birnin Kebbi.
The governor informed the team that he would personally meet with them in Abuja to address and resolve all problems associated with AGILE.
He stressed the need for AGILE to judiciously use the funds, particularly loan resources which will align with his government’s commitment to transparency, accountability and prudent financial management.
He noted that his administration places a high priority on education, teachers’ welfare and infrastructure development.
The team leader, Mr Shinsako Nomura had earlier expressed his gratitude for the warm reception accorded to his team.
“On behalf of the World Bank and the AGILE team, we commend the partnership with the state government in executing AGILE projects.
“Your Excellency, the team has visited several school construction sites, existing schools and interacted with teachers, students and communities to assess ongoing efforts and discussed areas that need improvement,” Mr Shinsako said.
