Kebbi State government has released N550million for immediate disbursement to 4,000 less privileged persons in the state.
The money, the government said was under its social transfer programme , adding that the beneficiaries were selected for the KB-CARES programme aimed at cushioning the effects of COVID-19 pandemic which was caused by national lockdown in the country.
Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu while flagging-off the disbursement yesterday in Birnin Kebbi said the lockdown made the residents not only of Kebbi State but nationwide and the whole world to stay indoors without engaging in any socio-economic activities.
Bagudu added that the NG-CARES programme was a tripartite intervention programme between the World Bank, federal and state governments.
According to him, under the programme, 1,950 beneficiaries will receive N20,000 bi-monthly transfer for a period of 24 months.
