Kebbi Govt To Flag Off Koko-Dabai-Zuru Road

Kebbi State government has concluded arrangements to flag off the construction of Koko-Dabai-Zuru Road on Tuesday at Koko junction under Koko/Besse local government area of the state.

The project, our correspondent gathered, was initially awarded by the federal government but was neglected by the contractor for five years and the present administration of Governor Nasir Idris decided to continue with it.

LEADERSHIP Weekend gathered that the governor has entered into an agreement with the Federal Ministry of Works to continue with the project while top engineers had visited the sites and assessed the project and submitted their recommendations.

During the signing of the state budget this year, Governor Idris told journalists that a huge amount was earmarked for the 87-kilometre road project which the government will commence immediately.

 

Given the highlight on behalf of the governor, commissioner for Works and Housing, Abdullahi Umar Faruq disclosed that from Koko to Mahuta, covering 37 kilometres, will be executed by GNIL Nigeria Company at the cost of N27 billion, Marafa to Mahuta (25km) will be handled by an indigenous contractor, ZBCC at N18.6 billion while Mahuta to Dabai (25km) will be executed by Habib Engineering at the cost of N18 billion.

The commissioner however warned the contractors against shabby jobs advising them to stick to the design, specifications and quality of work as contained in the agreement.
