The Kebbi State Hisbah Board has arrested a man who was allegedly found hiding inside a “Ghana Must-Go” bag at the residence of a married woman in the Badariya area of Birnin Kebbi.
The board’s Director of Sharia, Sirajo Kamba, confirmed the incident in a statement issued on Tuesday in Birnin Kebbi.
According to Kamba, residents alerted Hisbah officials around 12:15 a.m. on Monday, May 18, after noticing suspicious movements around the woman’s residence.
He said the alert was raised over suspected illicit conduct contrary to Islamic teachings, prompting residents to notify the authorities.
“Upon receiving the report, the Kebbi Hisbah Board swiftly deployed officers to investigate,” Kamba said.
He explained that upon arrival, Hisbah operatives requested permission to search the premises, but the woman initially denied that anyone was inside the house.
Kamba added that the woman later granted access for a search, during which the suspect was allegedly discovered hiding inside a “Ghana Must-Go” bag.
He said preliminary findings suggested an alleged romantic relationship between the two individuals.
According to him, both suspects reportedly admitted to the allegation during interrogation and would be charged to court in line with Islamic legal provisions.
