The Kebbi State Government, in collaboration with the Arewa Broadcast Media Practitioners Forum (ABMPF), has concluded plans to host the 2025 broadcast media security summit aimed at tackling insecurity and violent extremism.
A statement by the National Chairman of ABMPF, Abdullahi Yelwa, said the summit would bring together broadcasters, policymakers, security professionals, and development partners to develop practical communication strategies capable of enhancing public trust and countering violent extremism.
He said the summit, with the theme “The North: Existential Threats and National Security,” is conceived as a strategic intervention aimed at addressing the escalating security challenges confronting Northern Nigeria.
“It also seeks to provide a robust platform for dialogue, collaboration, and collective action among stakeholders committed to restoring peace and strengthening national cohesion,” he said.
He further disclosed that the Sultan of Sokoto, His Eminence Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar III, and the governors of Borno, Kaduna, Katsina, Niger, and Sokoto States are expected to grace the occasion, scheduled for November 10.
Over 100 delegates drawn from radio and television stations across Northern Nigeria, alongside security experts, traditional and religious leaders, civil society organisations, and government officials, are expected to participate in the high-level discussions during the summit.
