Taraba State governor, Dr Agbu Kefas, has received the Democracy Heroes Award Africa in recognition of the reforms and development initiatives embarked upon by his administration since assuming office in May 2023.

Governor Kefas received the award at the 15th edition of the Democracy Heroes Award Africa, held on Friday in Abuja.

This was contained in a statement issued to LEADERSHIP in Jalingo signed by Emmanuel Bello, the Director Media and Strategic Communication, Agbu Kefas Campaign Council.

“Since assuming office, Kefas has prioritised security, education, healthcare, youth development, agriculture and infrastructure, as key areas of his administration’s development agenda.

“Education remains a major focus of the administration, which has pledged to expand access to learning and strengthen human capital development as part of efforts to improve the state’s long-term economic prospects.

“The administration has also outlined initiatives aimed at improving healthcare delivery, creating opportunities for young people, strengthening agriculture and stimulating economic activities across the state.

“Taraba’s agricultural potential, particularly in food production and agro-processing, has equally featured in the government’s development priorities, alongside efforts to promote tourism and other productive sectors capable of generating employment and improving livelihoods.”

The statement, however dedicated the award to the people of Taraba State, and described their resilience, cooperation and aspirations as a source of inspiration for his administration’s efforts to build a peaceful, prosperous and inclusive state.

It said, the recognition reinforced his administration’s commitment to pursuing policies, aimed at improving the welfare of residents and advancing sustainable development across the state.

He, acknowledged that the ultimate measure of good governance lies in its impact on the lives of citizens, the effectiveness of public institutions and the ability of government policies to address the people’s needs.

“The award comes as the Kefas administration continues to pursue its development agenda, with security, education, economic growth and improved public service delivery identified as key priorities.”

The statement said, Kefas administration would continue to consolidate existing gains and explore opportunities to accelerate economic growth, promote social progress and improve the quality of life of the people of Taraba State.
